May 11, 2001 ACRA AMENDMENT VETOED In a magnificent display of ignorance, Governor Jane Hull vetoed HB 2087, which would have amended Arizona law to conform to the Americans with Disabilities Act in
several respects. This leaves state employees with only the current protections of the Arizona Civil Rights Act, while the rest of the workforce enjoys the significantly broader protections of the ADA.
April 6, 2001 - GAY WORKPLACE RIGHTS The Arizona Capitol Times reports that Senate Bill 1225, adding sexual orientation to the list of prohibited forms of employment discrimination in the Arizona Civil Right Act,
passed out of the senate. It's anyone's guess whether it will survive in the House. |
